At ChakraTech, our inaugural summer internship framework is built around the 70-20-10 learning and development model, acclaimed for fostering effective learning experiences. Here’s how we've tailored it for our dynamic startup environment:

Circular infographic illustrating the 70:20:10 Model in practice. The chart is divided into three parts: 70% Formal, associated with programs, courses, eLearning, simulations, training, lectures, conferences, reading; 20% Social, linked to coaching, mentoring, feedback, social learning, buddy systems, sharing, collaboration; and 10% Experiential, related to on-the-job application, situational learning, experiences, challenges, practice. Each section has an icon: a person at a desk for Formal, two people talking for Social, and tools for Experiential.
  • 70% Experiential Learning: Interns at ChakraTech immerse themselves in hands-on projects across specific fields such as business, computing, and engineering. This experiential approach emphasizes on-the-job training, where learning is derived from active engagement in projects addressing real-world technical and business challenges. By applying their technical and business skills in these practical scenarios, interns gain invaluable insights and experience, directly contributing to their professional development and the innovative solutions we strive to create.

  • 20% Social Learning: Growth is further enhanced through structured social interactions, including coaching from seasoned industry professionals, mentoring by our leadership team, and collaborative projects with peers. The buddy system and collaborative culture ensure that knowledge is shared and challenges are tackled collectively across different teams.

  • 10% Formal Education: To complement the practical experience, interns will engage in a tailored selection of formal learning activities, including self-directed learning, specifically designed to support their project roles. This aspect of the program includes interactive eLearning modules, access to open-source educational videos from platforms like YouTube or academic websites, targeted training sessions, and exclusive workshops led by experts in sustainability, biotechnology, and business innovation. Additionally, we encourage participation in relevant online lectures to broaden perspectives and stimulate new ideas, fostering a well-rounded educational experience.

This model is designed to move away from traditional academic settings and instead, capitalize on the dynamic and fast-paced nature of a startup. It encourages rapid development of practical skills and innovative thinking, aligning with the unique needs of an early-stage company poised to make a significant impact in the field of sustainability.
